QGIS 0.8.1 preview 1 for windows available
As you may be aware we are working on getting QGIS 0.8.1 bug fix release out the door. I have made a preview build for windows...
The preview build is available at:
http://qgis.org/uploadfiles/testbuilds/qgis_setup0.8.1preview1.exe
This file will be removed again at the time of final release so please do not make any permanent links to it. QGIS 0.8.1 will be the first of probably several bugfix releases up until the time that QGIS 0.9 is released. I would like to ask that your feedback about problems you encounter is done only via the bug tracker since it is difficult to keep track of issues when they are posted to the mailing list in an ad hoc manner. More specifically if you encounter any new bugs please file them against Version 0.8.1, Milestone 0.8.2 since we wont be making any new changes to the 0.8.1 codebase (barring major show stopper issues). The primary reason for making this preview available is to get the installer tested and make sure everything is generally working out the box. There are still two issues that I will try to address with the final release of the windows installer:
- support for silent installs
- placing shortcuts into all user accounts
If you were generally able to install and use the preview release without issue, that feedback will be most welcome in the comments section below.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.

0.8.1 works fine
HI,
I have installed the new 0.8.1 on XP2 and it works fine. (even the copyright plugin :) )
Some bugs have been fixed, i can use the mesure tool and export in svg png, even heavy projects. This is a great stable version.
BUT: why the icon of the link on my desk is so ugly, a yellow Q with a black border instead of the older yellow cute Q whith the arrow???
copyright label
Hi, is the copyright label plugin again corrupt in the 0.8 stable and preview 1? As in version 0.7 changes on the copyriht text is not stored and has to be entered each time starting qgis (independent of new or already saved project). This problem did not occur in the 0.8 preview.
Is there a hint to solve the problem?
Regards
Kai

Forum Problems
Hi Tim,
Sorry to post here but I seem to be locked out of the forums, I get the following message:
"Sorry, but your password cannot be retrieved because your account is currently inactive. Please contact the forum administrator for more information."
Don't know who the forum admin is! I can log in to the main website but not the forum. Joined the forum on 13 December 2006. Still heven't got it sorted out.
I have some problems with Qgis 0.8 (TITAN) release on Win XP. I cannot edit or remove any features using the Feature Table edit facilities with .shp files. The files have write permissions and everything is being done according to the 0.80 manual.
Can this be posted on the forum and someone give me access to the Forum?
Thanks
Regards
John C.
BTW Did you menage to look at the S57 File I sent in Qgis?
No problems installing, problems running.
Installation went fine, including sample data download;
Now about bad:
1) No icon for QGIS in start menu. There is icon for uninstall QGIS, but not for QGIS.
2) All plugins are listed twice in plugin manager;
3) Trying to add WMS layer results in error: Could not open SRS database /resources/srs.db
Error(14): unable to open database file
No problems installing
