Screencast - Loading Data into GRASS with QGIS

This screencast shows you how to load vector and raster data into GRASS using the QGIS-GRASS plugin.

This screencast is ~ 9 minutes long and includes importing a shapefile and TIFF into a GRASS mapset.

Screencast - Creating a GRASS Location with QGIS

This screencast shows you how to create a new GRASS location using QGIS version 0.8.1 or higher. You should have some sample data in hand if you wish to follow along.

Please note that I use the words layer and map interchangeably. Strictly speaking, in GRASS a mapset contains maps and a map contains one or more layers.

Slides from the "QGIS Update" Presentation at FOSS4G2007 Available

The slides from my presentation "Quantum GIS - Five Years and Counting" are available (PDF, 3MB).

This is basically a "where we came from, where we are, and where we are going" update on the project.

The LiveCD used at the FOSS4G2007 QGIS workshop is now available for download.

You can download it from http://spatialserver.net/qgis-workshop-r3.iso (569MB). You'll need to burn the ISO to CD using appropriate software for your operating system.

To use the CD, make sure your PC is set up to boot from CD and reboot. On an Intel Mac, insert the CD and hold down the 'c' key when rebooting.

QGIS Birds of a Feather Meeting at FOSS4G2007

We are planning a "Birds of a Feather" (BOF) meeting for the QGIS community at FOSS4G2007. For details on time and location, see the BOF wiki page.

If you plan to attend, could you please shoot me an email (sherman at mrcc dot com) so I can get an idea of how many folks will be attending?

Thanks and hope to see you at the conference and the QGIS BOF session.

What OS Do You Use with QGIS?

I'm working up some statistics for my presentation at FOSS4G2007. To that end, I'd like to get a feel for the operating systems used with QGIS. We have a new poll up on qgis.org. If you could take a moment and vote, it would be very helpful. I plan to contrast the results with a similar poll we took a year or so ago.
